This retro pendant light shade was designed in 1972 by Danish designer Holger Strøm who was then working at the Kilkenny Design Workshops in Ireland. He was originally tasked with creating a lamp to be used in a Christmas display, but once he'd developed his ingenious system of interlocking modules he was determined to develop a mainstream lighting product.
For the individual components, he employed the use of a rhomboid shape because, of all the classic geometric shapes this one gives the most rounded form. Eventually, after much experimentation, the designer unveiled this light shade which is now rightly regarded as a design classic. It's subtle organic geometry continues to fascinate those with an eye for design and it fits equally well in both modern and retro interior design schemes.
Unusually our retro light comes ready assembled so it can be fitted immediately.
