Bulb recommendation

Here at Iconic Lights our vintage inspired Marie-Thérèse chandelier adds a touch of elegance to any home. Typically used in more traditional homes this chandelier can also compliment a quirky, contemporary vintage home. The French shabby chic style is adorned with acrylic droplets making it the perfect eye catching feature for any home.

Louis XVI was a man of great taste, living in a creative period of furniture and artistic objects. His wife Queen Maria Antonia Josepha (more commonly known as Marie Antoinette) held a style often seen as extremely modern and sophisticated, which her eldest daughter Marie-Thérèse inherited. She followed the latest English fashion of flowery marquetry mixing golden bronzes and turquoise blues – a majestic era of fashionable décor including grand lighting. Marie Therese was dubbed the “Queen of exquisite taste,” living in a time of such iconic styles as Rococo and Neoclassical, known for being florid and excessively elaborate.

The Neo Classical era was largely defined by contrasting aspects: extravagance with a quest for simplicity, merging light colours with heavy materials, aristocrats and the bourgeoisie.  This mix produced a diverse era in fashion, with the movement ending due to the French Revolution and Marie Antoinette’s execution on October 16, 1793. However, the ideas and main aspects of the movement strongly affected future fashions for decades. Marie-Thérèse had a very elaborate style, a fan of gold and white crystal chandeliers, candelabras and bed canopies - her home furnishing always having plenty of trim, mirrors and floral motifs.
