ACHILLE & PIER CASTIGLIONI LIGHTS

ACHILLE & PIER CASTIGLIONI LIGHTS

"Colour and forms in the home today." Creative design was one of Achille Castiglioni’s key skills, creating objects through rigorous method, technical talent and wit, to achieve beautiful design that reached viewers on both a rational and emotional level. Achille Castiglioni was born in 1918, studying architecture at the Polytechnic in Milan. After World War II he worked alongside his two older brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo, who were also architects. Both brothers viewed the world as a catalogue of objects providing them with ideas and guidance; with the everyday world inspiring their work. Both designer’s collected a wide array of found objects over the years, giving them the means to pursue and recognize good design. Each object acted as a lens through which their work could best be understood. Combining functional and playful objects, both brothers showed how whilst form and function were important for a successful design, they weren’t the only concerns a designer should focus on. The Castiglioni brothers heavily contributed to updating modernist design to contemporary modern, opening the world’s eye to the reinvention and adaption of current objects. For inspiration on ways to use these lights and style inspiration please visit our Pinterest Board. To read more about Achille Castiglioni please visit our blog article.
