Update your living room for under £100 in under 60 minutes

1. Change the cushion covers. This has got to be one of the quickest and cheapest ways to update your sofa and nothing feels as good as a new fluffy cushion

2. Change out your lamp shade (if you have a non-electric fitting). A ceiling fitting is the perfect way to introduce a bit of colour into a room and what better way to change up your living room that changing the colours. We sell non-electric fittings from £13 so there really is no excuse.

3. Artwork. When we’re looking for a little something extra we always turn to artwork. I know what you’re thinking! Artwork?! On a budget?! But we have the answer, now dont laugh but a great (and cheap) way of introducing or changing your artwork is wrapping paper. Places like Paper Chase and Oliver Bonas sell some trendy prints that can easily be passed off as artwork. Alternatively, if you’re feeling creative, you can make your own prints using apps such as Canva. Plain black or white frames can be picked up really cheaply from places like The Range and Clas Olsen.

4. Upholstery. This is a great way to make your home feel very different relatively quickly, it’s on the pricier side of things but it really could make such a difference. Incidentally, another tip, if you’re in the market for a new sofa but don’t have the cash,a great way to keep it cheap is to get a cheap sofa from a charity shop or Facebook marketplace and get it reupholstered. That way you get the exact look you want for less. Also, Ikea sell sofa cover in pretty much every colour - there’s bound to be one that works for you.

5. Spray paint. It wasn’t so long ago that we got bored of our black and white display boxes and went crazy with gold and pink spray paint. You could do the same with plant pots, table legs, picture frames, mirrors, even skirting boards or picture rails if you’re feeling really adventurous.

6. The next two points are completely free but are potentially our favourites. The first one is to change your living room around - if you can. Doing this almost gives you a whole new lease of life.

7. Seven is something we have recently discovered on Instagram and we have no idea how we haven’t thought of it before. It’s called ‘Shop the House’ which is essentially moving things from one room to another. This could be books, candles, vases, trinkets or photos but it’s a great way to make your rooms feel a little bit different without spending a penny.

8. The next is one that we discovered from one of our favourites - Grillo Designs. It’s removable wallpaper! This genius discovery is perfect for renters and people on a budget, it’s also perfect if you’ve fallen in love with a trend but aren’t sure it’ll last.
