Christmas gift guide 2019

This year’s festive season is just around the corner and it’s time to start preparing. Trends emerging include buying memorable experiences and gifts that offer real value for those you love and not simply filling stockings with throw away items. So, this year, bring a little light into the lives of your nearest and dearest with our Christmas gift guide for 2019.

Boys and Girls

Whilst there are several gifts that never seem to fall out of fashion, Lego, video game consoles, bikes and baby dolls, but to name just a few, some parents may be looking for something a little different for their kids this Christmas.

Memorable experiences come in many forms and one nice idea is to restyle their room. Bedroom makeovers are the type of gift that keeps on giving and they don’t need to be costly or take up much of your precious time – a lick of paint, new bed clothes and a cool lightshade will transform their room – plus it gives you a chance to declutter.

Mums and Dads

Parents, particularly those with young children, are typically very time poor, so why not give them a great time at Christmas. In keeping with the experiential theme, you could book them a table at a restaurant, buy tickets for a show or even organise for them to get away from it all on a short break.

There are, however, plenty of stay at home alternatives. Why not get them matching bedside table lamps, something stylish for the living room or you could go super traditional and get them Christmas jumpers to keep them cosy – worn just a few times a year and so eco-friendly to boot.

Outdoorsy Types

Most families have at least one “outdoorsy type”, walking boots always at the ready, they will typically already have “all the gear”, but that doesn’t mean you can’t indulge their passion. Festoons are really popular at the moment and they are primarily produced to be used outdoors – installing them and of course sitting outside, no matter what the weather, will bring a smile to the face of any self-respecting outdoorsy type.

Home Birds

For many, Christmas is all about being at home with the family and what better way to relax than curl up with a good book. Books make for brilliant Christmas gifts and add into the mix a new reading lamp and you have your gifts for home birds and bookworms all wrapped up.

Animal Lovers

Whether young or old, animal lovers are so easy to buy for. And, whilst buying real animals is not something that should be entered into lightly, there are lots of other options to consider. Framed pictures or paintings of cute creatures for example or a light from our Animal Instincts collection and as animal lovers are also environmentalists, they be pleased with their gift for life.

Giving memorable experiences at Christmas or gifts with green credentials is a great way of celebrating old traditions and a good way of introducing new ones. The contemporary Christmas is here to stay and will help ensure we see many more magical festive moments.
