HOW TO CONTACT US
Business Support Manager, LSE Retail Group. Lyntown Trading Estate, Eccles, Manchester M30 9QG
There is no better way to unwind from a stressful week than indulging in a full-blown movie marathon. And we aren’t talking about simply watching the first movie that appears in your Netflix suggestions … we are talking about creating an iconic movie night experience! (Yes- that involves chocolate and popcorn). We are providing you with a guide on creating an iconic movie night setting, from the comfort underneath you, the snack spread all around you, to the lighting above you.
Comfort is key
Movies are not short at the best of times, particularly not if you are watching the entire Harry Potter series. You can be sat in the same spot for hours on end, so understandably, comfort is key!
The two options most people have are the sofa or the bed (unless you have a home cinema, in which case absolutely go for this option!). Both are comfortable but getting into bed will have you falling asleep within the first ten minutes of the movie starting and the sofa will eventually have you feeling uncomfortable, with not enough space to work with. Instead, we recommend using all duvets / blankets / throws / cushions you can accumulate and make a large comfortable space on the floor.
Use the seat cushions from your sofa to create a mattress-esque base. Then cover this with a huge blanket, or a bed sheet. Around this you will want lots of display cushions for extra squishiness, and on top of that, an excess number of duvets and blankets. In the winter you may want to pop a hot water bottle under the duvet for extra warmth!
The ultimate snack spread
Arguably, the most important part of a movie night is having an iconic snack spread to go with it! It goes without saying that popcorn should be the first snack on the list. But why not take this to the next level!? Crush some Oreos on top of your popcorn and drizzle over some warm Nutella or toffee sauce… have we got your mouth watering yet?
For those with a real sweet tooth, try making your own s’more’s dip. For this, all you will need is a dipping pot, fill one quarter of it with chocolate pieces and the other three quarters with marshmallows. Pop it in the oven for 5 minutes on 180 degrees. The finished product will be a gooey concoction of sweet goodness! You can dip anything in here from biscuits to pretzels, or even fruit - if you are feeling … somewhat healthy.
Perhaps, if it is a sad movie, you may feel the need to drown those sorrows away? Or maybe you are just feeling incredibly single whilst watching a romcom. Whatever it may be, a boozy alcoholic punch can help you out! All you need is some chopped fruit, orange or apple juice and alcohol. Mix it all together and your drink is sorted for the rest of the evening. If you aren’t feeling like alcohol, a creamy hot chocolate with extra marshmallows is another great option!
Having the right lighting when watching a movie is super important. You want to make sure there is enough light to concentrate, but also not too much light, as that will reflect off the TV screen.
You certainly don’t want to be in a brightly lit room! This would not make you feel cosy or relaxed. Instead, low-level lighting is best here. We recommend choosing low watt bulbs with warm white lighting. This way, a dark and cosy ambience can be achieved.
To avoid the light disturbing the quality of the TV picture, we recommend using downlights. As the lights point downwards, they increase the overall lighting in the room without reflecting off the screen. We have a selection of wall downlights, such as
A final tip when it comes to movie night lighting is:- rather than placing your lamps beside you, place them on either side of the TV screen. This way it will not reflect off the TV screen and disturb the picture quality.
Our Morpho floor lamp is super light, so you can move is easily around the room. Not only this, but you can also push the light to direct upwards, centre or downwards. We recommend you push it downwards, and place it beside the TV whilst watching the movie.
