How to light up your garden

28 Aug 2019

Just because it’s almost September doesn’t mean summer is over, we’ve just had a scorcher of an August bank holiday weekend and the night haven’t reached sub zero temperatures just yet. There’s no better feeling than sipping a glass of wine or mug of hot chocolate in the garden in the evening, no matter the season. Lighting is one of the most essential parts to any garden renovation. Below we’ll share our favourite Instagram garden renovations and garden lighting tips.

Our Top Lighting Tips

1)      Use Wicker shades under a pergola to create the ultimate bohemian garden. Our wicker shades aren’t IP rated but our festoon lights are. Hang our one of our wicker shades from one of the festoon light bulbs to light up your shade. Or leave it unlit as a decoration.

2)      Festoon Lighting – nothing screams the perfect garden lighting more than festoons. We think the more the better.

3)      Function and form – more than anything, your garden lighting should be functional (and look great). Luckily, with our range of PIR outdoor lights, you can have both. PIR lights work using a motion sensor so they turn on when it detects you in its radius.

4)      Placement – when choosing where to out your garden lights it’s important to consider where you’ll need them most. Decorative lights such as wicker shades should be placed where you’re most likely to sit whereas PIR lighting should be placed where you’re most likely to be doing things like barbequing, near your doors back into the house or next to bins.
